Dress Codes by Dance Style

Pre School

Sapphire Stars & Diamond Divas

  • Leotard

  • Tights

  • Pink Ballet Shoes

  • Black Tap shoes

  • Ballet Bun

Bright tights, leotards, skirts and tutus are fabulous, however; they can be distracting during dance time.

Ballet

  • Black Leotard

  • Pink Tights

  • Pink Ballet Shoes

  • Ballet Bun

Ballet skirt or dance short are authorized at instructors’ discretion. If instructor approves, dancer's can wear a colored leotard for the last class of the month. 

Contemporary

& Modern

  • Leotard of dancer's choice

  • Tights of dancer's choice,

  • No Shoes

  • Hair securely tied back. 

Half soles and paws are approved at the discretion of the teacher. 

Tap & Jazz

  • Leotard of dancer's choice

  • Tights of dancer's choice

  • Hair securely tied back

Hip Hop

  • Leotard of dancer's choice

  • Tights of dancer's choice,

  • OR leotard and sweatpants

  • Hip Hop Sneakers

  • Hair securely tied back

  • Males:

    • Tank, T-shirt

    • Sweat pants or long shorts 

    • Hip Hop Sneakers

Hip Hop sneakers to be approved by the teacher and should only be worn in the studio.  

Lyrical

  • Leotard of dancer's choice

  • Tights of dancer's choice

  • Shoes

  • Hair securely tied back

Approved shoes are half-soles and paws with final approval by teacher. 

Acrobatics

  • Leotard of student's choice

  • Convertible Tights of student's choice

  • No Shoes

  • Hair securely tied back

Shorter hair can be in a pony tail. A french braid is recommended for those students with long hair to keep from stepping on when bending backwards. Please consider the amount of movement when dressing for this class to avoid exposure issues. 

Belly Dance

  • Leotard of dancer's choice

  • Tights of dancer's choice

  • OR Yoga attire

  • Dance shoes that are the most comfortable

  • Hair back from face.

Ballroom

  • Comfortable clothing to move in 

  • Comfort shoes to dance in that have not been worn on the street,

  • Hair back from face.

If you choose to wear ballroom heels, please get the protective caps for the stiletto.

We also think a top-knot looks great and can be fun, but they are not as functional or secure for dance class
